Elevation Burger: Reviewed!

Overview: Bahrain is no stranger to burger joints. We've got everything from the 60's-era Johnny Rocket's, the homey Jan Burger, the likes of Jasmi's, and other new-comers such as Fat Burger. Elevation Burger is one of the new-comers to the burger scene here in Bahrain, and there's one question on everyone's minds: is it really all that it's been blown out to be? Read on to find out. You can find Elevation Burger on the top floor of the new Seef Mall section, near the escalators.

Service:
When visiting Elevation Burger, you shouldn't expect your order to be ready in the same time it usually takes you to get your hands on a Big Mac. It'll take a tad bit longer, which is more than a fair trade-off considering the quality of the food you'll be eating (which I'll get to in greater detail later). My burger arrived around 10 minutes after I had placed the order. The actual ordering process is efficient as well. The speedy cashiers will take your order (down to the dressings you want on your burger), and will hand you a number corresponding to your order that will be called out once it's ready. The drinks are self-served. Overall, the service at Elevation Burger was above average, but there was nothing extraordinary about it either.

Atmosphere:
Nothing memorable. They have a booth area inside the restaurant itself, and some seats and tables in the outside mall area. They emphasized on wooden decor. It's really ordinary, given that it's a mall restaurant.

Presentation:
To be frank, I thought that my burger looked a little sloppy when I got it, although one could argue that its unkempt appearance could be attributed to the generous helping of dressings that I had ordered. The burger meal was served in a nifty rectangular, wooden carton with fries alongside it. I felt that the carton design was a nice touch in that it visually set Elevation Burger apart from your run-of-the-mill fast food burger joint. I didn't need to touch the fries to realize that they were crispy; they looked very enticing and I couldn't wait to get started on them. The whole meal had an alluring aroma that contributed to an overall package that was hard to resist.

Food:
The patties they used in the burgers were astounding, certainly more flavorful than what we have tried at other places in Bahrain. The toppings that come with the burger didn't taste old - quite the contrary. We found their special elevation sauce to be a wonderful complement to the already-delicious patties. While the burgers were great, we cannot say the same about the fries. Granted, they are slightly more healthy than regular fries since they are cooked in olive oil, but they were simply not appetizing. They were salted well, but they tasted very bland. At some point, it felt like I was eating salted plastic. Perhaps they would taste better if the potatoes were cut into larger pieces rather than into grated shreds. That way, the fries would preserve some potato flavor and texture.

Pricing:
There are definitely cheaper alternatives out there. The burgers are sold separately for around BD3-4 each. If you want some fries and a drink, it will cost you extra. In a sense you get your money's worth. The patties used were excellent, so I can understand the inflated price for the burger. The fries, regardless of how we felt towards them, were served in large portions. We could not finish them. I, personally, am a fan of quality over quantity. I would have preferred a smaller portion of fries that were more tasty.

Their burgers are good. If you're feeling like dishing out a bit more money for a higher quality burger, give this place a try. If you tried it out and would like to add your own voice, leave a comment below!
